Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about safe purchase and installation.
What type of safe do I need for my home?
It depends on what you're protecting and your primary risk. If you're concerned about fire damage to documents and data, a fire-rated safe is essential. If you're protecting cash or valuables from theft, you need a burglary-rated safe. Many people benefit from a combination safe that provides both fire and burglary protection. Visit our Caloundra showroom for a consultation.
Does my safe need to be bolted down?
Yes, in almost all cases. A safe that isn't anchored can be simply carried out by burglars and opened elsewhere. We install pre-drilled anchor bolts into the concrete slab or flooring as part of our installation service. Floor safes are permanently encased in concrete — the most secure option.
Can you open a safe if I've forgotten the combination?
Yes. We can open most mechanical and electronic safes without damaging the contents. Some opening methods require drilling, which may affect the safe's ongoing usability. We'll discuss the options with you before proceeding and, where possible, use non-destructive techniques first.
What safe do I need for a Queensland firearms licence?
Queensland firearms licensing requirements specify minimum standards for safe construction based on your licence category. For Category A/B (rifles and shotguns), a steel cabinet meeting AS/NZS 2085 is required. For handguns (Category H), a heavier security container is required. We stock compliant options and can advise based on your licence type.
