Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about alarm system installation.

What's the difference between Paradox and AJAX alarms?

Paradox is a hardwired system — extremely reliable and well-proven for residential and commercial installations. AJAX is a modern wireless system using encrypted radio communication — faster to install, ideal for rentals or heritage properties, and includes built-in cellular backup. We can recommend the best fit based on your property and requirements during a consultation.

Do I need 24/7 monitoring for my alarm?

Monitoring is not mandatory but highly recommended. Without monitoring, your alarm siren will sound but no one will be automatically notified — relying on neighbours or passersby to call police. With monitoring, trained operators verify the alarm and dispatch police or a guard immediately. It also typically reduces your home insurance premium.

Can I add smoke detectors to my alarm system?

Yes. We integrate smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detectors into alarm systems so that fire events are treated the same as intrusion events — triggering the siren and alerting your monitoring centre. This is now required by many insurance policies and is strongly recommended for all homes.

Can you service my existing alarm?

Yes. We service and repair alarm systems from most major brands. We also reconfigure existing systems when your needs change — adding zones, updating user codes, or reconnecting monitoring. If your system is outdated or unreliable, we can quote an upgrade to a modern platform.
